As we celebrate Book Week and the joy of reading here in Australia, we are delighted to share with you an Australian organisation that has been working tirelessly to improve literacy and numeracy in Vanuatu—one of the South Pacific’s countries with the lowest literacy and numeracy standards.

At Syba Signs, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to learn, read, and dream. That’s why we are proud to support The Library Project Vanuatu, an inspiring initiative bringing well-stocked, fully organised libraries to schools across the islands.

Since 2014, The Library Project has established more than 65 libraries in remote communities. Each library is a life-changing space, giving students access to resources that dramatically improve literacy and learning outcomes.

Our contribution? Colour-coded spine labels and label protectors that help volunteers and local teachers organise non-fiction collections, making them simple to use and easy to maintain. It’s a small detail that makes a huge difference in creating sustainable, functional school libraries.

🤝 Mission: Australians donating books, shelving, teaching resources, and funds to help create libraries—working hand in hand with Ni-Vanuatu communities.

🌱 Impact: More than 65 libraries already established, with measurable improvements in literacy and student results. In June / July 2025 alone The Library Project installed 10 new Libraries in remote schools.

How you can help?
Do you have good quality used or unused library resources that could be repurposed? The Library Project Vanuatu is currently seeking:

• Quality books in good condition
  
• Library shelving, book ends, and shelf dividers
  
• Library furniture and teaching resources
